The PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course introduces you to the basics of diving. A short try-diving experience for adults and children aged over ten years, this dive will be conducted in the swimming pool at Havelock Island Beach Resort (HIBR)–a beachfront property located on Govind Nagar Beach. It has a huge pool that is specially designed for carrying out pool DSD confined practice sessions. The entire experience will be of around three hours in duration wherein our instructor will teach you the basics of scuba diving. Except for Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Barefoot, we will provide you with a pick-up and drop-off facility within a 3 km radius from Havelock Island Beach Resort to our dive centre.

What is PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course?

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course is the ideal beginning for those inquisitive about beginning the adventure of exploring the underwater world but not quite ready for full scuba certification. It is like an introductory lesson designed for beginners with no previous experience required. The PADI DSD program allows you to try scuba diving in a controlled, safe, and comfortable environment with a PADI professional. The PADI DSD program consists of a short, easy-to-follow briefing by a PADI instructor who will go over the fundamentals and proper equipment functions, safety details, and underwater communication.

  • You'll enter the shallow water to cover some fundamental skills like breathing from the regulator and clearing your mask as the instructor stands over you carefully.
  • You will then be brought into open water accompanied by the instructor; you'll be at least 12 meters below the surface. You will experience the sensation of weightlessness and the ability to breathe underwater while being able to swim over coral reefs teeming with life, colour, and diversity.
  • This peaceful and almost magical experience feels like you are in another world. Discovering Scuba Diving is unique because it revolves around you: your pace, your comfort level, your level of interest - you never dive alone, and of course, it is all about doing it safely while having fun.
  • Whether you're on a tropical vacation or simply interested in diving, this course gives you the best possible taste of scuba diving by dipping your toes into the underwater world in a memorable way, and if you absolutely love it (many people do), you'll even have accomplished credits towards your full PADI certification later on.
