Going snorkelling at Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) by boat is a memory that will never fade. You appear to be entering another world below the waves. There is anticipatory joy as you sail through the bright turquoise sea; you know that you have come to something special. When the boat slows, usually close to Elephant Beach or one of the uncommercial reefs, you peer off the side of your boat, seeing the bright blue water while also starting to feel a sense of calm. As you slide into the ocean, you dive into a colourful underwater garden. The coral formations shift like living sculptures, and colourful fish dart in and out of the nooks and crannies with fascinating curiosity.
It is peaceful and exhilarating at the same time, especially considering the environmental health of some of the reefs - these are some of the healthiest coral reefs that you will see. And the short ride on the boat adds some thrill to the day, with paradise in front of you contrasting against the lush prefabricated greenery along the open horizon. Regardless of your past snorkelling experiences —it's your first time, or next boat snorkel trip— the guided trip allows you to just relax and enjoy. The trained instructors guide the entire experience with your comfort in mind. This is not just a kit and the activity - it becomes a memory for you to cherish long after you have dried off and returned to land.
The remarkable Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island) is one of the last places on the planet that still has a functioning ocean and is considered one of the finest places in the world to snorkel. The island is surrounded by aquamarine waters, bright and colourful coral reefs, and a variety of marine species including reef fish, turtles, and friendly rays.
What tourists particularly love about this snorkel experience is that it can be relatively hassle-free and buddy friendly to novice snorkelers, and is generally warm water, light current and good visibility on most days, which makes it easy to look underwater and breathe through a snorkel. The calm water and moderate temperature makes it an ideal location for snorkelling.
Going snorkelling is something that kids over ten years old and adults under sixty can practice to facilitate tor and under supervision. Given you have an experienced snorkeler there with you.
